About this gym
KORE Gym is Newport's dedicated HYROX training facility. Athletes of all levels, from complete beginners to elite competitors, train here on official HYROX equipment. With a strong community focus and a setup built specifically for HYROX, it is as welcoming to first timers as it is serious about race-day performance.
Common questions
What should I bring?
Kit you'd train in, water, a small towel and remove earpiercings if possible.
How early should I arrive?
10 minutes before your slot is plenty.
Do I need to fast?
No but avoid carbohydrates (foods and drinks) in the 3hrs before the test, as these may skew data
Can I drink coffee beforehand?
Ideally avoid extra caffeine in the 3hrs before the test as this affects your heart rate. We match your heart rate data to lactate readings
How long does the test take?
Allow around 90 minutes for a lactate threshold or VO2 max test, and around 2 hours for the combined test. That covers your warm up, the treadmill test itself and the briefing.
What happens after the test?
You get a detailed report with your zones, thresholds and pacing. We personalise the report to your specific goals and explain how to use your data to maximum effect.
