An example lactate threshold curve. Blood lactate (mmol/L) is plotted against running speed (km/h) from 8 to 17 km/h. The curve stays flat through the recovery (Z1) and aerobic (Z2) zones, lifts gently into tempo (Z3) and threshold (Z4), then climbs steeply through VO2max (Z5). The two dashed lines mark LT1 (around 11 km/h) and LT2 (around 14 km/h), the first and second lactate thresholds we identify in your test.

How It Works

Three simple steps

Simple, quick and done at your gym!

Run on a treadmill

Start out at a comfortable pace. We gradually increase the speed every few minutes, building up to a hard effort.

At each increase, we take a tiny drop of blood from your earlobe. It's a quick pinprick that most people barely notice. We do this roughly 5-10 times in total.

Get your results

You will get your full report within 72hrs. This will include insights about your personal lactate curve, training zones and clear guidance on how to use them to maximum effect.

The whole process takes about 45 minutes. You can train as normal afterwards.
